I love to cook for family and friends but there are days I just don't feel like spending hours in the kitchen. And when the holidays roll around I am always looking for festive and delicious recipes that are easy to make and look beautiful on the table. This Antipasto Wreath is one of my favorite seasonal appetizers!
This recipe is incredibly versatile and you can pick and choose the ingredients that you and your family love best. For instance, if you don't like olives replace them with artichoke hearts or more tomatoes. Feel free to get creative and construct your skewers to taste!

What is antipasto?
Antipasto is the traditional first course of an Italian meal. It typically includes and assortment of cured meats, olives, pickled vegetables and various cheeses which are often served along with fresh herbs and veggies.
While I love using the ingredients listed for this recipe you can really get creative and mix and match flavors. If you don't like artichoke hearts, use peperoncini or marinated mushrooms instead. Not a fan of salami? Then use pepperoni or mortadello instead. The sky is the limit!

- Skewers: I used these 6 inch skewers I ordered from Amazon.
- Juno Bites Red Grape Tomatoes
- Mozzarella balls: If you can't find mozzarella balls you can also buy a ball or log of fresh mozzarella and then cut into cubes for the skewers.
- Olives: I like doing a mix of garlic stuffed green olives and Kalamata olives. You can use any of your favorite types, just make sure to buy pitted olives.
- Italian cured meats: I love using a mix of prosciutto and salami but you could use pepperoni, mortadella, coppa, soppressata, or any other cured meat.
- Fresh basil
- Fresh rosemary: This is to decorate the wreath. Gives it great flair!
- Quality olive oil: Pick a good quality olive oil that you would enjoy dipping a piece of bread in.
- Aged balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze: The thicker and sweeter the better.
- Salt & pepper

- Sweet cherry peppers
- Provolone cheese
- Marinated mushrooms
This recipe is naturally low-carb and gluten-free.
If you want to make this recipe Whole30 and Paleo compatible simply omit the cheese. You will also want to check your other ingredient labels for added sugars.
If you want to make this a lower calorie dish omit the olives and load the skewers with lower calorie ingredients such as tomatoes and herbs.

- 6 inch skewers
- 1 pint Grape tomatoes
- 8 oz small mozzarella balls If can't find the balls then cut fresh mozzarella into cubes for the skewers
- 12 oz sliced (or cubed) Italian cured meats such as prosciutto and salami I usually do a 6 oz package of prosciutto and a 6 oz package of salami
- 15 oz jar or can of quartered artichoke hearts (in water)
- 8 oz jar of olives or you can do a mix of green and black olives
- fresh basil
- fresh rosemary optional, for serving
- high quality olive oil for serving
- Balsamic glaze or aged balsamic vinegar (thick and sweet) for serving
- freshly cracked pepper
- Prepare the ingredients by washing the tomatoes and herbs, and draining the jars of olive, artichoke hearts and mozzarella balls.
- Mix and match the ingredients, threading them onto the skewers. Try to get equal amounts on each skewer.
- Once the ingredients have been used up, arrange them in a wreath shape on a round platter. Drizzle with a little olive oil and balsamic glaze then tuck in a few sprigs of rosemary. Repeat the process for another 1-2 layers until the skewers have all been used. Tuck in more sprigs of rosemary to give the dish a "wreath" like appearance. Garnish with a little freshly cracked pepper and serve. Enjoy!
