Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • cups whole wheat flour
  • 1.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ¾ cups buttermilk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 425 F.
    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all of the dry ingredients until well combined. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Using your hands, gently mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently about 10–12 times, just until it comes together.
    Shape into a round disk and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
    Using a sharp knife, cut a deep cross across the top of the loaf.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes at 425 F, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. T
