They don't require any fancy equipment or hard-to-find ingredients. Plus, they're a fantastic way to make use of fresh, in-season produce, allowing the natural flavors of the fruit to shine through.

What is a crumble?
Great question-and one that comes up a lot in the world of cozy, fruit-filled desserts!
A crumble is a baked fruit dessert topped with a streusel-like mixture, typically made from flour, butter, sugar and sometimes oats.
A crisp, on the other hand, is very similar to a crumble but traditionally does include a lot of oats and sometimes nuts in the topping, which gives it a crispier, crunchier texture when baked.
A cobbler is a different vibe altogether. Instead of a crumbly topping, the fruit mixture is topped with biscuit dough, cake batter, or even dumplings.
All delicious-just depends on your mood!
Equipment
- 9-10 inch Baking dish: I like to use a pie dish, a cast iron skillet or my Le Crueset au gratin dish.
- Cutting board and knife
- Peeler (optional): I love using my Oxo peeler for the pears.
- Mixing bowl
- Measuring cups and spoon

Ingredients
- Strawberries: The sweeter and more ripe the better!
- Apples: I like using granny smith apples for the added tartness but I've also loved it with honeycrisp You can really use whichever variety you prefer.
- Lemon: Fresh lemon juice gives it a lovely acidity. You can also use a squeeze of bottled lemon juice if that's easier.
- Nutmeg: You could also add a little cinnamon or ginger if you'd like.
- All purpose flour
- White granulated sugar
- Brown sugar: Light or dark brown sugar will work.
- Rolled oats
- Butter: To make this recipe vegan substitute unsalted butter with vegan butter.
- Salt
