Superb!

Prosciutto Wrapped Stuffed Dates are served on a plate, garnished with fresh basil and drizzled with olive oil, with some pieces presented on serving picks.

These Prosciutto Wrapped Stuffed Dates are one of my all-time favorite recipes for entertaining. They're easy, elegant, and always the first thing to disappear. I first had them at a holiday party years ago and immediately knew they were special, and I've been making my own version ever since. The sweet dates, creamy filling, and salty prosciutto hit that perfect sweet-savory balance that feels fancy but takes very little effort.

This recipe makes about 28 stuffed dates, which is perfect for a small gathering, but it's incredibly easy to double or even triple for a larger crowd. They're also ideal for stress-free hosting since you can prep them ahead of time and simply bring them to room temperature before serving. Just pull them out of the fridge about 30 minutes beforehand, arrange them on a platter, and you're good to go. If you're looking for a reliable appetizer that feels impressive without keeping you stuck in the kitchen, this one's a keeper.

    What are dates?

Dates are actually the fruit of the date palm tree which grows in many tropical regions around the world.

There are several varieties of dates and all are delicious. For this particular recipe I recommend using the larger medjool dates. And to make life easier you can even buy them pitted.

    Ingredients

    • Large pitted medjool dates
    • Mascarpone cheese: I love using mascarpone in this recipe because it is exceptionally creamy and delicious. If you need a substitute in a pinch full fat cream cheese will work.
    • Goat cheese
    • Fresh basil
    • Red pepper flakes
    • Salt & freshly cracker black pepper
    • Prosciutto

    For serving (optional):

    • High quality olive oil
    • Freshly cracked black pepper
    • Flaky sea salt: I recommend Maldon Flaky Sea Salt.
    • Thinly sliced fresh basil

    Recipe FAQ

Can I make these Prosciutto Wrapped Stuffed Dates in advance?

Yes, you can! Simply make the dates the day before and store in the fridge overnight. Then take them out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before serving.

Can I double or triple this recipe to feed a crowd?

Definitely! Simply multiply the ingredients by how many servings to need.

What can I substitute for mascarpone?

Mascarpone works beautifully for this recipe because of its silky texture and rich flavor. I highly recommend getting your hands on some but if you can't find any full fat cream cheese will work in a pinch.

The sweet and savory works so well together. What a simple appetizer to make ahead for the game day and I am sure my friends will enjoy it as much as we did.
