These delightful one bite Nutella tartlets are the perfect sweet treat for your next party or gathering! They are so simple to make and have all the classic chocolate hazelnut flavor we love!
The holidays are coming and so are the parties! These delicious little Nutella tarts are a simple, delicious and beautiful dessert that your guests are sure to love. They are perfectly bite sized and can be made in advance. It's easy to cut this recipe in half or even double it to feed a large crowd. I love topping them with fresh raspberries and grated dark chocolate, but you can use any fruit of your choosing. Strawberries also work great! And while I love them in these crispy phyllo shells, you can always buy pre-made (or homemade) shortbread tart shells as well. Enjoy!

The perfect dessert for a crowd.
These little tartlets are so easy to make and beautiful to look at. They have a festive holiday look and I love serving them around Thanksgiving and Christmas for parties and gatherings. I recommend making 2 tarts for each guest. Some will have more than that, others less. But it should it give you a good ideal of the volume needed.
Equipment
- Electric mixer: I love using my KitchenAid Stand mixer for this recipe. An electric hand mixer also works great.
- Baking sheet: This is for cooking your tart shells.
- Piping Bag and Tip: You can always spoon the mixture in if you'd like. But I love the clean, pretty look you get from piping in the mouse. Not to mention it's much quicker overall!
Ingredients
- Heavy whipping cream
- Cream cheese: I recommend using full fat for the best flavor and texture.
- Nutella
- Powdered sugar
- Sour cream (optional): You can leave this out if you'd prefer but I love the slight tang to balance out the sweetness.
- Salt: Just a pinch will do!
- Phyllo mini tart shells: I like using Athens Phyllo Shells for this recipe. All you'll need to do is crisp them up a few minutes and then pipe the filling in. But you can really use any mini (or not so mini) tart shell you'd like. The Nutella mousse is also great in short bread tarts or puff pastry.
- Fresh raspberries
- Dark Chocolate (optional): I like grated a little dark chocolate over the top for some extra flare.
Step by Step Photos
Time needed: 1 hour and 15 minutes
- Prep your ingredients and bake the tart shells.
It's very important that the tart shells have cooled completely before piping in the mousse. Follow the package instructions and give them plenty of time to cool.
You also want to make sure that your raspberries have been washed and are thoroughly dry before using. - Make the Nutella mousse.
Start by whipping the cream to stiff peaks. Set that aside then whip up the cream cheese, Nutella, sour cream, powdered sugar and salt. Then fold the whipped cream into the mixture until smooth.
- Pipe the mousse into the tart shells.
- Chill for an hour. Then top with raspberries and grated dark chocolate and serve. Enjoy!

- dark chocolate optional, for grating on top of the tartlets
Instructions
- Following the package instructions, bake the phyllo tarts until crisp. Then remove from the oven and set aside to cool completely. Wash the raspberries and lay out on a towel, patting gently with a paper towel to dry completely.
- Add one cup of heavy whipping cream to the bowl of a stand mixer or large mixing bowl. Beat on medium high until stiff peaks form. Pour the whipped cream into a separate bowl and set aside until later.
- In the same large bowl you removed the whipped cream from add the Nutella, softened cream cheese, sour cream, powdered sugar and a small pinch of salt. Beat together on medium high speed for a couple minutes until well combined and creamy. Then add the whipped cream back to the bowl and use a spatula to fold it into the mixture until no white streaks remain, being careful not to over mix.
- Spoon the mixture into a large piping bag with a large tip (you can also just cut a hole in the corner of a freezer bag). Pipe the mousse into the cooled tartlet shells. Chill for at least an hour up to overnight before topping with a fresh raspberry and a little grated dark chocolate. Serve and enjoy!
